Hybrid between M. soulangeana and M .liliiflora 'Nigra'. Free flowering from a young age producing abundant deep purple-red flowers. Long flowering season in spring and early summer with some blooms in autumn also. Moist, organic rich, neutral to acid soil in sun or part shade. 3m in 10 years.
