Complex new hybrid immune to Dutch Elm Disease. Tested for 20 years among diseased elms in the Bois de Vincennes, Paris, with no losses. 2250 trees planted on the Isle of Wight have performed equally well. Smooth stem; leaves and general appearance similar to native field elm. Very hardy, wind resistant and tolerant of summer drought and winter waterlogging. Late to leaf out in spring and also to drop in autumn, around the end of November. Fast growth in well drained soil. Suitable as a specimen tree or in a rural hedge. Any soil any site. Height 6-12m.
