Persian Shield. This evergreen sub-shrub from Burma is grown mostly for the stunning leaf colour, a dark green silvery-metallic purple-pink with purple undersides. Grown indoors it needs moist well drained soil. The plant is not at all drought tolerant and needs water before it dries out. Reduce water in winter. Best in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. Pinch plant early in growing season to make bushy. Outdoors the plant needs a humid atmosphere in part to full shade. Height 60-90cm.
