Aspidistra elatior
An evergreen houseplant with a robust constitution. In spring dull purple flowers like sea anemones appear on the surface of the compost. Best in part shade out of direct sunlight Keep cool but frost free in winter. Can be planted in the garden in a sheltered, shady position under trees. Water regularly in summer but do not let the plant stand in water for prolonged periods. Likes to be potbound but repot every 5 years.
